cyantist (/’sī-ən-tist/):

is curious to learn, asks questions, draws connections, is interested in the process as much as the outcome, is inspired by, wonders and cares about the world all around, solves problems, embraces diverse perspectives. And creates.

We believe: Everyone is a Cyantist

We believe that, because we have met so many of you - of all ages and backgrounds - already! And we fundamentally believe in the beneficial interplay between disciplines as a playground for learning and creativity for everyone. So we are passionate about offering tools that are accessible and easy to use, and experiences such as STEAM workshops, so that cyantists of all ages can easily learn and create, by connecting art and technology. We are equally passionate about being part of paving the way for a better future, and maintaining a keen eye on sustainability along the way.

Why 3D Printing

3D printing and related technologies are disrupting industries from education, jewelry and fashion, to manufacturing, healthcare and space exploration. They can enable all types of creatives, designers, makers to be able to bring their ideas to life, at lower costs, and increasingly, using sustainable materials, design and production options. Nonetheless, they remain difficult to learn and access for many. We created our app Cyant's Lab™ to enable cyantists of all ages to easily and intuitively create 3D models and print them, using something humans have known since prehistoric ages and are still using, whether they are kids or professionals: drawing!

Cyant is led by founder Barbara Hanna, Ph.D., a Technologist and Entrepreneur passionate about fostering technology that educates, empowers and/or connects individuals, and with a deep appreciation for the arts and design. She has over 20 years experience working in a range of cutting edge technology areas, and translating complex technology concepts into practical applications and clean, intuitive user interfaces. Growing up in Paris, her family, teachers and education, encouraged her to think holistically, appreciating and making connections between all subjects including maths, science, humanities, art and design.  Her interests in STEM fields then led her to pursue Engineering undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Ph.D. in Computer Vision at the University of Surrey, UK. Having lived in three countries for extended periods of times, and traveled to many others, she appreciates the importance of local communities as much as connections between people across the world, and the importance of embracing diverse perspectives. At Cyant, and as a mother, Barbara is consciously building a business that is using emerging technologies to foster learning and creativity while laying the ground for a better and sustainable future. Her work at Cyant and in the larger technology space is driving the discussion about crucial issues for the future such as creativity, inclusiveness, impactful use of technology, on-demand vs mass production, 3D printing for all, and sustainability.

We are thrilled to work with spirit-minded consultants, collaborators, and advisors, including educators, designers, and industry experts who all share our desire to foster learning and creativity through intuitive tools, designs and experiences, at the intersection of arts and technology, and make technology accessible and inclusive. As a woman owned and led company working towards B-Corp status, we are also committed to working with and help empowering women and girls, and proud to contribute to women-led tech innovation.
